Holiday Themed Date Ideas

No one can deny that the Holiday Season is a magical time to go on dates. There is just so much to do and see at this time of year. There is magic (and love) in the air. It’s not yet too cold to go outside and if we are super lucky there may even be snow.

If you are from Halifax this list will be extra beneficial for you because I have included lots of specifics for events happening here in the city!

Whether it is your first date or you’ve been married for years, I hope this list helps you come up with some ideas to make your holiday season special.

Go to a play or ballet

During the holiday season, there are lots of local productions you can go and see. Here in Halifax Neptune Theatre is putting on performances of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol and It’s A Wonderful Life. The most famous Christmas ballet is the Nutcracker, which Symphony Nova Scotia and Halifax Dance are putting on this year!

Build a gingerbread house

This is both fun and yummy date. You can buy gingerbread house kits at a lot of stores during the Christmas season for around $10. If you are feeling extra creative you can add your own candies to the kit.

Go for a holiday-themed cup of coffee

Going for a holiday coffee or festive hot chocolate is the perfect date idea for a cold winter’s day.

Build a snowman

Hopefully, you live in a place that gets snow! There is really nothing better than a white Christmas. Get outside and enjoy the snow by building your own version of Frosty.

Go to a Christmas Market

Larger cities like Halifax have Christmas markets every single weekend in November and December. On many weekends there are even more than one! Go check out your local holiday market, get some yummy baked goods, and check out local handmade goods together this Christmas!

Walk to see Christmas lights

This is a favourite activity of ours. On chilly nights we like to get bundled up and take our golden retriever for a walk around the neighbourhood and look at all of the Christmas lights. This really helps fill us with Christmas spirit.

I would be a horrible Canadian if I didn’t include ice skating on this list! If you live in Halifax you can go skating on the Oval for free. Just bring ID to rent skates and you will be on your way!

Go for a sleigh ride

Why not go dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh?

Go sledding

Sledding is one of the most fun winter activities and doesn’t have to be limited to children! Put on your snow pants and head over to Citadel Hill!

Photos with Santa

I don’t know why Allie and I haven’t done this yet! This is our 4th Christmas together and we still haven’t gotten photos with Santa Claus. I think it’s time to head to the mall and find out if we have made the nice list this year!

Go see ice sculptures

This is something I have never done but totally want to. Many cities have ice sculpture contests and I think that they would be magical to see. I can’t believe such beauty can be made out of ice!

Stay in and watch holiday films

This is arguably the best time of year to just stay in and be cozy. I think we will be spending many a date night cuddled on the couch with our fur baby watching Christmas movies this year.

I hope your Christmas season is filled with love and laughter! Don’t have a significant other in your life? These date ideas all work perfectly as friend dates. Just spend time with those close to you this season and enjoy!

I really wish this post could include more photos and hopefully I can update it with some! I really under estimated how much work 25 Days of Christmas AND Vlogmas would take.
